Who we are

North Capital Chorus is a Prince George based community choir. We offer three different choirs for all ages. Weekly practices includes warm-up, rehearsal of various pieces, signing and laughing.

We aim to perform two concerts per year, music festival, as well as various other gigs.

Meet Our Director

Melanie loves to share her passion for music and singing with her students and looks forward to working with the North Capital Chorus singers!

When she is not singing opera, Melanie is teaching her students and choirs the art of singing. She is the cofounder of Fraser Lyric Opera and owner of the Northern Vocal Arts Academy. Melanie Nicol graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and completed her Master’s degree in vocal performance at the University of Manitoba. Most recently, Melanie became a teacher candidate at the University of Northern B.C. and is looking forward to becoming an elementary or high school music teacher in 2020.

 Her most memorable operatic roles include Nancy in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring with Opera Nuova, Ruggero in Handel’s Alcina with AEDO, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito with Manitoba Underground Opera and Béatrice in Fraser Lyric Opera’s inaugural performance of Béatrice et Bénédict.  Her most recent operatic engagement was Rosina in Fraser Lyric Opera’s The Barber of Seville.
